If you've worked retail in the past few years, you know that cell phones have honestly made the customer service experiance something you DON'T write home about. Obsessive cell phone users are the WORST because they think that they can treat the workers like crap. Once one called me a 'worker thing' because I was ignoring her - she was on her cell phone!
